The very hot ring card girl for the UFC, Arianny Celeste, was arrested for domestic violence after kicking her boyfriend in the face with her high heeled shoe. Apparently, while in a limousine, the two got into a fight over some text messages her boyfriend, Praveen Chandra, had sent to other women, prompting the face kick. The argument continued back at their hotel room where Celeste contends he choked her and Chandra says she threw two vases at him.
What I don't get about couples like this is how after a night like this they could ever want to work things out. Once I have been kicked directly in the face by a girl in a high heeled shoe, even if she looks like Arianny Celeste, we're done. There is no rational explanation for that, and if I choke you, I should be dumped too - and arrested.
Arianny, leave the kicking to the professionals - you just carry the cards and keep looking good in your undies, and if this guy wants to choke women, maybe get one of your fighter friends to perform a proper choke on him.

A while back, I interviewed former UFC fighter and Chicago MMA legend, Shonie "Mr. International" Carter. You can listen to that here. It's pretty damn funny.
These days, he has lost 8 out of his last 10, he still often dons a top hat, and he trains people at my gym. Today, as I walked by, he was working on the mat with a woman lying down, and he was rubbing a big foam roller across her back. Then he mounted her, sitting on her butt to get a better position. When I came back over there to use the bathroom, I saw that he had abandoned the roller, and he was rubbing her shoulders, still sitting on her butt. When I came out of the bathroom, he was rubbing her butt, kneading those cheeks like dough.
Now, I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt here, but as many personal trainers as I've seen over the years, I've never seen one implement the butt rub.
What do you think, Seven Readers? Would you be okay with a butt rub on a gym mat in front of everyone at your athletic club? Would if it was a person of the same sex?

Crappy Nicknames
I was watching some UFC tonight, and there is a guy with the nickname "The Philipine Wrecking Machine", which I thought was bad. However, far worse was a fighter in the main event with a nickname of "The Janitor."
My favorite nicknames?
Those would be . . .
Keith "The Dean of Mean" Jardine
Brett "The Angry Hick" Bergmark
Yoshihiro "Sexyama" Akiyama
Jens "Lil' Evil" Pulver
"The Axe Murderer" and "The American Psycho," who I really think should fight one another in a fight called "The Blood Bath."

Pain Cage
I was watching Jim Rome, and don't laugh because I like to watch manly sports stuff while I work out. Anyway, his "Final Burn" was about a mixed martial arts cage bed (click for link) that you can not only get for your kid, but they have them in adult size.
Who in the shit is putting their kid in a jail every night, and what crazy ass adult is getting one of those? Ladies, if you went back to a guy's apartment, what would you say if he opened the bedroom door and said, "Step inside the Pain Cage?"

"Where the F#c@ is the relationship?"
I'm sorry that it's been so long since I've posted. I have had this great post I have wanted to do, and I've been putting off writing it because I want it to be really good. Ultimately, I feared that it wouldn't be as good as it would have been a few years ago, but the more I thought about it, if posts were better back then, it's because I had so much less going on in my life. So, I'm just going to let this one rip, and if it's not as funny as it should be, so be it.
Here it is.
My roommate and I signed up for a gym package through an email coupon thing where we get 10 private/team training sessions for $48 total, and our first one was a mixed martial arts (MMA) class. This was exciting because I know that it's some of the toughest training in the world. Ex football players have started doing it and have said that what they did for pro football was nowhere near as demanding as MMA stuff. I also thought I'd be learning how to break arms, choke people, flying knees, spinning back kicks, liver punches, kidney punches, and all kinds of stuff. I did learn some things, but more about personality disorders than fighting.
The instructor came out, and he was immediately weird. If you met him at a party, you would know right away that he was a harmless guy, but he would get on your nerves, so you had better find another room to be in. That type of guy.
We started out with a lot of yoga poses that were actually really tough, and it was the hardest part of the class. Then he had us acting like various kinds of animals, circling around the mat. At this point, I had an open mind, thinking maybe it was like Mr. Miyagi, where you're painting the guy's fence and house, finishing his deck, but you just had to trust him that it would make you a karate master. That's where I was at until I was acting like my tenth animal, the class was nearly over, and I hadn't punched, kicked, or wrestled anyone.
It was a lot of sitting on the mat and learning stuff, which sucked because I wanted a workout. It was a lot of spiritual crappola and life lessons and lectures from a guy who looked to be five or six years younger than me. Yes, he was in really good shape, I'll say that for him. He could slowly move into a handstand and hold it, which is really tough, but while he would do things like that, he'd make really nerdy noises, like "zip, zip, zip!" He was totally socially awkward. At one point, while we're lying on the mat learning stuff, he says, "Would if I were to suddenly get Jenny into a full mount?" And as he says this, he rolls over and mounts my female roommate just above her waist as she's lying down. This was about 15 minutes into the session. He just met her a few minutes prior. He was also always making jokes that weren't at all funny and saying, "You guys need to lighten up!" I was doing a lot of smiling to make him feel better because he was zooming around the room making intense eye contact with everyone. He may have been on blow . . .
Finally, he has us on the floor doing some grappling, and I remember thinking it odd that he wasn't even watching us while we were doing it to tell us if we were doing things right. It turns out he was off chewing out two of his regular students. When he gets back from that, he puts them in front of everyone and says, "Everyone, I have a big problem today. I told Ron and Bill here to stop going so rough, kicking one another in a drill like this, and I tell you two to stop (Now looking right at these two. And yelling at them) and then I turn around, and you're doing it again! If you want to act like that, you can find another studio! You guys are supposed to be brothers! What have I told you is the whole theme of this month? Relationships. Where's the fucking relationship? You know what? That's it. I'm too upset. We're done for the day. Let's wrap it up."
We then did his bowing ritual thingy, and when he opens his eyes again, he's eerily calm . . .
"I'm sorry I let my temper get the better of me, and I'm sorry that I cursed. You just have to understand, this is my life." (I believed him) "And when I see shit like that" (cursing again) "it just upsets me greatly. Ken, Jenny, I'm sorry you had to see that . . ."
He then apologized and lectured for ten minutes, he cut the session that we all paid for by another ten minutes, and I feel like only the uncomfortableness gave me any kind of workout, somehow. Actually, I believe it was the chimpanzee movements that really hurt my ass for the next couple of days. So, I got an ass workout and a great story that would have been told greater a few years ago.

Quiton "Rampage" Jackson and "Sugar" Rashad Evans will finally do battle next weekend after a long wait because Rampage had to cancel the fight to get into his role as B.A. Baracus in the A Team movie. These two absolutely hate one another, and the war of words has been heated and constant over the past year. Who doe Dr. Ken want to win, you may ask? Naturally, I'm pulling for the more funny guy, Rampage. Here's a quote I just heard from him, and I'm paraphrasing here because I'm too lazy to check it again on my DVR:
"You know that feeling when you're a kid when you just want to go to sleep and wake up on Christmas morning? I want to go to sleep, wake up, and open Rashad's face."
He's funny and Rashad, while a good fighter, has never said anything funny, and he seems like kind of an asshole. So, here's what I want to see again on May the 29th.

As some of you know, I'm a big mixed martial arts fan, and I love all the personalities within the sport, which is why I like to interview them. However, Frank Mir, on a radio show, went way past being a flashy trash-talker, and right into an asshole/psycho realm with this statement he recently made about Brock Lesnar, someone who beat him badly the last time they fought:
"I want to fight Brock Lesnar. I hate who he is as a person. I want to break his neck in the ring. I want him to be the first person that dies (due) to Octagon-related injuries."
Sometimes an athlete will say, "we're going to kill those guys," but what Frank did was different all together: He said he wants to literally kill the guy.
What do you think, Seven Readers? Is that just some good media hype, or is that just going way too far.

Taco Martial Arts Theater
t1. I'm booking the theater time for my second play. I've put this thing off long enough. I now have my director, who is a good friend who I can trust, and he is excited to work with me again, having been one of the lead actors in the first one. We're going to meet every week to figure out what it is these characters want, and what should happen to them. That's the part where I always need help, and once I'm there, the dialog comes out beautifully, so I'm excited to get to that point again. Look to be in Chicago in Early October of next year, or whenever we decide to do it. I'll let you know in the next couple of weeks.
2. I've been sick for a few days, and I've been watching way, way too much mixed martial arts. I have even been researching stuff like muay thai and all kinds of styles of kneeing people in the face that I, personally, will never employ. It's the most interested I've been in sports since the 1990's when the Chicago Bulls were good and those sporadic season when the Chicago Cubs get my hopes up before remembering that they suck and showing their true colors: red, white, blue, and suck.
3. I have plans to go to my mom and dad's place for taco night, and I just can't cancel due to illness because I keep hearing this in my head: "Son, you've made a mockery of taco night." That was an article from The Onion, the snarky, Madison, Wisconsin based phony story publication, and I just can't bail on my folks and live up to that article. So, time to suck it up . . .

Ultimate Fighter Expresses His Artistic Side While Donning a Speedo
I never thought I'd find myself watching an Ultimate Fighting reality show, but I happen to be hooked on one right now. I believe I've only missed one episode so far. It doesn't sound up your alley? Maybe you'd change your mind after you heard the incredibly simple but effective concept:Two teams of pugilists all live under one roof together with no booze, no women, and no television, and then two of them fight at the end of each week. That's it.
There is one guy from Chicago who wears a speedo around the house, brings his pimp hat and pimp chalice wherever he goes, and decorates the house with his half-assed, found items, modern art sculptures. He also intended on making a raft out of hundreds of empty water bottles, but only got as far as throwing them all into the swimming pool. The other guys took all the bottles out and bitched him out about messing up the pool, so he threw all the bottles back in and never made the raft. He is totally annoying, but he's from Chicago, so he's my boy.
No booze, no women, no TV, and an annoying wanna-be-pimp-daddy makes a fighter go something, something . . . *What show do you secretly love? Don't be ashamed. You're among friends.
* If you don't know what this line is in reference to then I may have to retract the line about you being among friends.
