As I was walking through the parking lot on my way to work (I work in a school) on this bitter-cold day, I saw a Vietnamese mother walking her three or four daughters into the building, and mom bent over and shot huge snot rockets out of each nostril in succession.
The eldest daughter caught me looking in aghast, and she quickly looked away, embarrassed.
I wonder if it was a cultural thing or just a mom with bad manners who should have done that on the walk home, not in front of teachers and students.
Thoughts?

Now THAT is one classy lady!
If I were her daughter I would have been mortified.
I don't care where you come from, blowing snot out of your nose onto the sidewalk is just plain bad manners.
Damn! This makes me appreciate my mother even more than I already do! That's just wrong man... nothing cultural, just plain wrong!
That is going to be my new excuse for all of my bad behaviors. It's cultural, the Swedish do this all the time! Oh, and my word verification is shiest
Jenni: Yeah, that might be a universal norm of bad manners.
Robot: Wrong, yes, but impressive.
Sister: Yes, the Sweeds do that, but I don't do it well. Tried it once and got it all over my face.
Cultural. And basically pretty sensible, really.
5000: Yes, sensible if you're good at it. The one and only time I tried it, I got snot all over my face.
