Are You Old?

Do you know what the hell Lady Gaga is saying in the gibberish part of "Bad Romance?"

I've decided that if you don't, then you're old. I'm officially old because I really tried to learn it by concentrating hard when I heard that part on the radio. I actually like the song. It sounds like the soundtrack at the happ-happiest gay bar of all time. Despite liking the song, and trying my hardest to commit it to memory, I can't do it. I have decided this means I'm old because if I were at a club (which I don't really go to anymore), and this song were playing, I just know that I would be faking it, and look around to find that all the 20-somethings know it by heart.

For the record, the "words" are:

Ra Ra-ah-ah-ah
Roma Roma-ma

GaGa
Oh la-la
Want your bad romance

Jov: I knew it!! My theories are usually pretty sound, when they're not totally insane.

I must be young...awesome.

5000: Yes! Smug in his oldness. I dig it.

Lyn: You made it. This theory is gaining validity . . .

I have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. Last time I was in a club, well, last time I didn't get thrown out of a club within the first ten minutes, some sloppy drunk girl with a meth habit was doing her best bad stripper routine and singing half the words to Poker Face to me.

I guess that's when I knew I was too old for that shit.

My daughter is 12 and knows all the words. I can't seem to remember the words at all. We were just talking about this and I decided the reason "old" people can't remember crap like this is because we are busy trying to remember the important crap that is necessary in order for the younger people to be able to have enough free time to learn unnecessary things like this. I am old too apparently. I am 34 and I sort of remember when I was younger I thought I would be pretty ancient at 30 so I guess it is about right.

YESSS!!! I'm still young... I knew those words!.... Wait.. should I be proud of that?!?

This is me admitting I know the words. But this is ALSO me admitting it took frighteningly long to get them down. HALF old. Or wait half young? Is this a glass half empty/full thing?

Casey: That experience should be why you go to more clubs. As for the age thing, my theory doesn't work on you because you're not at all interested in pop music, right?

Radio: Yeah, it's hard, right? There's like a mental blockage that won't let me get it down. I'm 33 and you're 34, so it must be somewhere younger than that where one can learn it.

Blame: Whether people should be proud of stuff is not up to me. I'm just testing out this theory. : )

Miss Org: Hmmmm, so your age seems to be the cutoff if it took you a while to get it down. I'm going to look up your age really quick, and post it next time I'm back on these comments, if that's okay.

Thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't hip on my Ga Ga.

Did you know that the process of rationalizing trig functions is intrinsically associated with scaling an octave? It is an associative relationship that determines whether that rational leads to a system of fourths or circle of fifths, but the only truly rationalized Western music would be pentatonic 7th chord blues. Fascinating, right?

No, I'm not into pop fucking music.

Well, I just turned 31 last month and I did in fact, know the words! So it must be right around 32 that you get old. SUCKAHS!

Heff: Any time. Just keep posting Playboy stuff. Thanks.

Casey: Yeah, that was complicated. You got to dumb it down a touch if you're going to embrace modern pop music.

Donk: 31, eh? I'd say 31 is EXACTLY old. The novelty of being 30 has worn off, and now you're entrenched into your 30's.
