Someone Asked Me To Go To "Tron" . . .

. . . on opening night, and I said, "I don't really like going to 'the show' that much anymore.

Let me tell you why this is an old guy thing to say:

1. The fact that leaving the house to see a movie is too big of an outing for me.

2. The fact that I said "the show." It's the first time I've ever said that, and the only people I know to say that were my friends' parents when I was a kid.

How about you, Seven Readers? Have you had any signs that you're old lately?

I say "Jeez Louise" a lot.

Listening to some Tesla on your blog now. I love it so much.

Using the expression "By Jove!" or making mildly sympathetic remarks about Dr Zaius in Planet of the Apes are signs that you're becoming ancient.

I have learned to embrace my oldness (and the dorkiness it brings) and use it to my advantage a bit. But then again I have kids that I can boss around if I want to. I rarely do, but knowing the possibilty is there is nice.

I am laughing about you saying "the show" is too much of an outing. I just told my daughters last weekend that I wasn't up to going to a movie with them. They called me on it though and said "driving and then sitting somewhere for a few hours is too much effort for you?" Busted.

The fact that I have to "check myself" after a fart these days is DEEPLY concerning.

Every time I go to the mall and try to find clothes. I guess I am going to have to shop at the Old and Fogey store. Or when I take my son to story time at the library and I see parents in their 20s there with 2 or 3 kids. I do think being a Cubs has probably aged you prematurely as well.

Spikey: Yes! Settle down!!! I like that one. It suits me.

Beef: Jeez Louise, I love me some Tesla!!!

Gorilla: I laughed out loud at the notion of old fogies sympathizing with old Dr. Zaius.

Alpha: "You punk! You crazy punk!" Love that line from "The Graduate," delivered by an old guy.

Radio: Your kids sound like they have an advanced sense of humor. Sometimes kids are great at pointing things out like that. : )

Heff: Hahahhaa! Good to run a check. Hahahhaa.

Shife: Oh, the Cubs have aged me without a doubt. They just killed poor Ron Santo with their badness too. : (

I know I'm getting old now because I require more than 2 hours of sleep to function & my alcohol habits are getting thrown out of whack. Where did my youth go?
